bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ

Northwest Children's Outreach (NCO)

Northwest Children's Outreach is an all-volunteer organization. All donations go straight to the families who need them. Last year NCO served over 32,000 children, giving away $2.6 million in children's items, as well as over 550,000 diapers. These items were donated by volunteers in the community, including members of Westside Church of Christ.

Westside Church of Christ is the home of NCO in Washington County.  Many Westsiders volunteer regularly by packing bags and sorting donations. Westside is also a Care Provider for NCO, which allows us to connect more deeply and serve our community by ordering children's clothing, diapers, formula, toys, books, etc. for the families who desperately need them.

If you would like to know more about NCO and find out how you can be a part of this wonderful ministry, contact Candace Leslie.

Family Promise of Beaverton

Westside has partnered with Family Promise of Beaverton to host up to 3 families or 14 people for one week out of the quarter. We had a wildly successful first attempt hosting in November. We are looking forward to our continued partnership throughout the years to come. If you are interested in more information, or would like to help with our need for a volunteer coordinator role, contact Chris or Jessica McPeak for more information!

backpack buddies

The Backpack Buddies program exists to help feed hungry children at a local elementary school. Children who depend on free and reduced lunch during the school day are often without enough healthy food during long weekends and holidays.

That's where we come in. On the last day prior to a school break, children are provided a backpack filled with nutritious food.

Westside has established a relationship with an elementary school very near our new church location, and 17 backpacks full of food are provided to hungry students and families during each long weekend of the school year.

care to share food pantry

The goal of the Westside Church of Christ food pantry is to follow the commandment that Jesus gave us to "Feed My Sheep." This is why we provide food each week for local families in need. We do this through our partnership with Care to Share who sends us two families each week. These families can range in size from a single person to a family of nine. The amount of food given is proportional to the size of the family. Typical items provided each week are peanut butter, tuna, soup, beans, spaghetti sauce and noodles as well as milk, butter, eggs and bread.

In addition to feeding the families referred to us by Care to Share, we also serve one to three Westside families who may be struggling to put food on the table each week. Lastly, we give food on an emergency basis to others who call the office or are referred through one of our members.

You can help keep our pantry shelves full by bringing in the suggested items listed in the church bulletin and here on the web page. If you would like to volunteer with our church food pantry please contact the church office.
